"WINDOWS AND DOORWAYS, I DON'T KNOW WHICH WAY TO LEAVE THIS ROOM."

Photobucket
Why, oh why, is is so unbelievably DIFFICULT to start and maintain a quasi-entertaining blog. Not just entertaining to the masses, but as an effort to entertain myself enough to actually want to update something that I feel is read, understood and appreciated. What do you blog about? What sort of pictures grab the eye and why on earth would anyone read just anything written by a stranger.

The answer is because we are fascinated with other people's lives. Whether they are just as mundane as ours or perhaps only slightly more interesting, the secret lives of others which blogs expose provide us a window into something that would otherwise never been exposed, much less documented. There is an innate curiosity that causes us all to be interested with what others are doing (or not doing) with their lives. Not so much to measure your own success against, but to inspire you and make you perceive your own life through a kaleidoscopic lens.

At twenty-four, I'm on the verge of discovering a new self, and after years in the music journalism industry, I'd like to open a new window and take a crack at interior decorating. You can blame my mom, you can blame my love for old furniture and wallpaper, you can blame whoever, but the fact of the matter is that I'm doing something drastic with my life: making a career change.

Some have said that going from one dying industry to another, not-so-profitable one is hazardous, but if my track record is any sort of evidence, I always go after what I want without looking back or paying much attention to what "the next emergent career field" is. The cliche "life is what you make it" couldn't be more applicable to my current situation and instead of sitting around and waiting for the magazine industry to save itself, I'm veering off the beaten path and going for it. Enjoy my updates inspired by random vintage furniture, salvaged windows, damask and baroque upholstery, and because I can't seem to escape it, good music.
